Forty newspapers have already signed up for the 2007 Fall KPA Chapter Series, Mr. Dogwood Goes to Washington. The deadline to sign up and have scrapbooks available for elementary students in your local schools is July 30. Once again, the most beloved miniature dachshunds, Chloe and Woody, are gearing up for a family vacation. Their travels will take them from their Kentucky home to our nation' s capital, Washington, D.C. Woody is so excited! Visiting Washington, D.C. has always been his dream. In preparation, Woody colors in his favorite coloring book featuring the sights of the District. But wait! Woody finds himself in the doghouse – again. While in the doghouse, he thinks about his actions, and in spite of his troubles, looks forward to his Washington, D.C., adventure. Readers will learn, along with Woody, about patriotism, American pride and the importance of historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
