Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame Inductions

LEXINGTON -- Nancy Green, vice president of circulation for Lee Enterprises Inc. and publisher of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in Iowa, was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame during an induction luncheon held Tuesday at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington.

It's Political Season...Again

It seems like there's always a political election process going on in the Bluegrass and this Spring is no different. May 22, Kentuckians will be going to the polls for a primary election on statewide offices -- governor, attorney general, treasurer, secretary of state, etc.

And if no gubernatorial candidates gets more than 40 percent of the vote in the primary, there will be the state's first (modern-day, at least) runoff election in late June.

2007 Kentucky Press Association Journalism Boot Camp

• The five-day KPA Journalism Boot Camp for entry-level editorial staffers or staffers-to-be will be held July 9-13 in Frankfort.

• The cost will be $100 per person. Classes will emphasize writing and reporting skills and will be geared toward people without formal journalism training who may already work for a newspaper or would like to in the future.

Broadcasters and classifieds: Working in your market?

Who are your major competitors in classifieds? Have you looked around lately and done a serious “reality check?”

Perhaps there’s the AutoTrader, as well as AutoTrader.com or its international equivalent. Maybe a real estate book or two. A guide to apartments and other rentals? Monster.com and Yahoo HotJobs and CareerBuilder, too, unless you’re affiliated with one of them. And of course there are probably Craigslist / Kijiji / Loquo and the like – the free classified sites that are serving consumers and advertisers in markets large and small.
