Kentucky newspaper representatives spent time with freshman Congressman John Yarmuth, right, during visits to Capitol Hill at NNA's Government Affairs Conference. Yarmuth, founder of Louisville Eccentric Observer, is the only member of Congress who is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and as a newspaper publisher is cognizant and supportive of the many issues facing newspapers at the federal level. Visiting with Rep Yarmuth are, left to right, Chip Hutcheson, Princeton Times Leader; KPA Executive Director David T. Thompson; Scott Johnson, husband of Kriss Johnson, KPA President; and Max Heath.
Karen Hutcheson, wife of Chip Hutcheson of the Princeton Times Leader, chats with Gen. Richard Myers, immediate past chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
During the National Newspaper Association's Government Affairs Conference, the association took time to honor Max Heath of Landmark Community Newspapers, Shelbyville, and a past president of the Kentucky Press Association, for his many years of service to NNA's postal efforts and his untiring support of community newspapers across the U.S.
Kriss Johnson, 2007 KPA President, center, chats with Alan Baker of the Ellsworth, ME, American, left and Ben Bradlee, former executive editor of The Washington Post.
