Courier-Journal staffer wins NAA fellowship The Newspaper Association of America has chosen eight newspaper-industry professionals to participate in the first half of its 2007 Marketing Fellowship program. The fellowships are presented once a year and are designed to broaden opportunities for minority professionals to advance their careers in newspaper management. The program began 27 years ago, and more than 1,000 newspaper professionals have participated in it. Fellowship participants attended The Future Leaders program hosted by the NAA Market Development and Promotions Federation in Las Vegas January, prior to attending NAA's annual Marketing Conference which was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Included in this year’s fellowships was Marvin Hayes, outbound sales representative for the Courier-Journal of Louisville. "This fellowship program has a significant impact on the future of a changing industry," said Jeanne Fox-Alston, NAA vice president of talent management and diversity. "Many who participate in the program have a profound impact with careers in newspaper management."
