SEPTEMBER MID MONTH UPDATE 2006 ARTICLES
Nominations and letters of application are being accepted until October 6 for the office of vice-president of the Kentucky Press Association for 2007. Any KPA member may nominate any individual who meets the criteria set forth in the KPA bylaws for that position. Additionally, individuals interested in holding office in the Kentucky Press Association may submit a letter of application. GOT STAFF? Since 1940, the Newspaper Association Managers have sponsored National Newspaper Week. This year's celebration will be October 1-7 and the theme is "NEWSPAPERS: We Cover Your Life."
If you’re using InDesign software, are ready to start using it, or just thinking about it, then you won’t want to miss the 2006 KPA Fall Seminar, Wednesday and Thursday, November 15-16. Kevin Slimp, the Adobe guru and one of our biggest drawing speakers, will be conducting the two-day seminar. It will be held at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort.
Materials for the Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers - 2006 packet have been mailed to each newspaper and the packet is available on the KPA website. New this year is Category 27 - Best Newspaper Website. That category is added to the Design section of the competition material. No other changes have been made in the competition.

Stephanie Mulholland with the Kansas Press Association has produced a series of house ads promoting the importance of newspapers to its community. She's made these ads available for your use, especially with National Newspaper Week coming up October 1-7. But the ads can be published any time during the year. There is no charge to use them and no credit line is necessary.
International Newspaper Carrier Day ads available on NAA Web site Vienna, Va. The Newspaper Association of America and the newspaper industry has designated Oct. 7 as International Newspaper Carrier Day, a salute to the hundreds of thousands of newspaper carriers who deliver more than 55 million newspapers to readers every day.
